Varsity Boys Hockey

The Varsity Boys Spartans have developed a reputation as smart, fast-skating, tough competitors. More importantly, the program has turned out young men with the maturity, leadership skills and perseverance to succeed. Spartans players have frequently turned up on NHL Draft watchlists. Our graduates move on to NCAA and Canadian universities in addition to junior hockey programs. In 2022, the Spartans won the CPSHA national tournament.

  • Athlete of the week: Jaxon Pierce

    This past weekend, varsity boys hockey won both of their games, the first against the #3-ranked Kimball Union Academy and the second against New Hampton School. Leading the offensive charge in both games was team captain Jaxon Pierce (Grade 12, Fredericton, NB). Jaxon scored on the first shift of the game against Kimball Union and scored both the first and second goals against New Hampton school on Sunday. Besides finding himself on the scoresheet for 3 goals in 2 games, Jaxon’s work ethic was on full display all weekend. Congratulations, Jaxon! 

  • Athlete of the Week: Oliver Plante

    This student-athlete from Ottawa, Ontario had an incredible first weekend on the ice with the varsity boys hockey team. Oliver was dominant offensively, scoring 4 goals and 2 assists in two games against the Hill School. He showed relentless work ethic, played with no fear and had an excellent level of compete all weekend. Congratulations, Oliver  Plante.

  • Honouring the Legacy of Peter Boyd

    This past weekend brought familiar sounds back to the Pat Burns Arena. Not only were pucks bouncing around the ice, and bodies hitting the glass, but for the first time since last spring the cheers of the Spartans faithful could be heard. After a summer of seemingly grey skies more often than not, on this particularly beautiful fall weekend many fans packed into the Pat Burns Arena to watch both the Varsity Boys and Varsity Girls teams start their seasons.
